Statement from Greg Engel, Chief Executive Officer, Organigram Inc.

August 21, 2017

The foundation of any positive and sustainable relationship is trust. This is most true when someone’s health is involved. At Organigram, we value our customers’ trust above all and work every day to be sure that we earn it.

Earlier this year, that trust was challenged when the company voluntarily recalled product because testing had detected the presence of unapproved pesticides. Since then, and in consultation with Health Canada, our team has been working diligently to implement new processes and procedures designed to prevent any such issue occurring in the future. These processes included rigorous testing of all of our product to ensure it is free of contamination. The results of this testing are also reviewed by Health Canada before any product is released for sale. Registered Organigram patients also have online access to the Certificates of Analysis for all available product strains.

Since I’ve joined Organigram as CEO, we have worked to demonstrate this stalwart commitment to product quality and patient safety. This is why we are deeply troubled by a recent media report suggesting the presence of previously undetected pesticides on product recalled in January 2017 and health issues reportedly related to the product’s consumption.

Once we became aware of the report, Organigram contacted Health Canada and sent samples of the product in question for further third-party testing. The results of this testing, along with additional testing completed by the Canadian Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA), found the product to be free of this contamination. In partnership with accredited laboratories and Health Canada, Organigram products have been tested regularly for the presence of the pesticides in question. Neither of these pesticides has ever been detected during this testing.

We have invested heavily in protecting the integrity of our materials and final product. Plants and treatment materials are under surveillance at all times with extremely restricted access, and all approved pesticides are inspected for compliance upon receipt. We remain firmly committed to the testing protocols in place between ourselves, Health Canada and our reputable laboratory partners and will continue to work closely with our physician and educational partners to deliver industry-leading levels of patient care.

Furthermore, we recognize this report may cause our customers unnecessary anxiety and apologize in advance for any confusion as a result.  The confidence and comfort of our patients remains our top priority, and as always, our client service team is available to field any question, comments or concerns at 1-855-961-9420 or info@organigram.ca.

Sincerely,

Greg Engel, CEO
