Organigram Joins Canada’s Leading Licensed Producers Release Recommendations for Responsible Cannabis Branding & Marketing Guidelines

 Guidelines developed in conjunction with Advertising Standards Canada would inform Canadians about responsible use, protect public health and safety, and combat the illicit market.

 

Today, Organigram and 16 of Canada's authorized licensed producers in partnership with the Canadian Medical Cannabis Council and Cannabis Canada Association, released the Adult Use Cannabis Advertising and Marketing Guidelines for Licensed Producers. The proposed guidelines, which if endorsed by government, would come into effect following the legalization of adult consumer use of cannabis in July 2018, are designed to protect youth and the safety of all Canadians, while also ensuring that Health Canada authorized Licensed Producers can compete effectively with Canada’s thriving illicit market.

Organigram officials contributed to the development of these recommended guidelines, which would apply to the advertising and marketing of legalized cannabis products, accessories and services permitted to be sold under Bill C-45. If adopted by government, this framework will help ensure that the legal industry can effectively compete against the illicit market and help keep cannabis out of the hands of Canadian youth.
